Tamara Hamilton has taught her 15-month-old son Sam more than 30 words in signs.

Sam has perfect hearing but he can communicate to his mum when he's tired and when he's hungry or thirsty.

After researching the work of child development experts overseas, Queensland mums Tamara Hamilton and Janine Burden founded Baby Signs® Australia to introduce this concept to Australian mums.

It's been featured on Oprah and was also made famous in the movie Meet The Fockers.

Baby Sign Classes at Jumbos Playland

The Baby Sign Classes come in two basic styles;

The first offers instruction to parents on how to use this at home with your new baby.

And the second format allows you to learn signing with your own bundle of joy at Jumbos Playland.

1. Do-It-Yourself Style

Do-It-Yourself Parent Workshops ... Parent Signing Kit and 90 minutes instruction.

Prenatal Baby Signing Basics ... Parents-to-be 30 minutes instruction.

2. Learn With Your Baby Style

Sign, Say & Play™ Classes ... bring your baby or toddler to these 45 minute classes for fun signing, games, singing and play.

Do-It-Yourself Parent Class

You will receive a Parent Kit and 90-minute instruction on the Baby Signs^® Program to make signing with your baby easy to do at home.

This class includes the many benefits of baby sign language and basic "How Tos" for teaching babies to sign. Plus you will receive tuition on the most useful signs and how to teach them to your baby through games, songs, and entertaining activities.

You will also receive a Complete Baby Signs^® Parent Kit to make signing with your baby fun and easy at home.

Details: This class is strictly instructional (without the games and activities) so that you can take the skills you learned and teach the lessons to your child in your own schedule. Parents wishing to learn with their own baby during class go to Sign, Say & Play™ Classes.

Length of Class: This class runs for approximately 90 minutes and consists of one class.

Cost: $105.00 which also includes the Complete Baby Signs^® Parent Kit. Both parents may attend the class.

Learn With Your Baby
Sign Say & Play™ Classes

A series of six theme-based classes offered over a 6-week period.

The classes are designed for parents and babies aged 6 months to two and a half years (or late speech developers) to attend together.

A total of 37 useful signs are taught through use of fun songs, books, and activities to help parents and babies communciate through simply "baby-friendly" sign language.

• teaches signing through fun games with Beebo™ the Baby Signs® Bear
• provides signing practice through delightful Baby Signs® songs
• introduces play activities that reinforce important language, cognitive and social-emotional skills
• brings families together to share their signing experience

Length of Class: Classes run weekly for approx 45 minutes to 1 hour and is part of a series of six themed weekly sessions.

Cost:

• $ 90 12 months and under (includes unlimited play at Jumbos)
• $108 13 months and over (includes unlimited play at Jumbos)
